Morelos is one of the closest states to Puebla, which is why it is a tourist destination considered "to come and go", because in one day you can perform various activities in a single place about two hours away from the capital of Puebla.

At Poblanerí we have gathered five different destinations for the people of Puebla who are wondering what to do in Morelos or what to visit.


Distance and estimated time: 136 kilometers and 2:09 hours from Puebla's zocalo.

Tepoztlán is one of the two Magic Towns that Morelos has, and has diverse activities to do, from walking through its streets in the center, with sale of handicrafts and food from the region, to the following activities:

  • Climbing the Tepozteco hill: This is the most typical thing that tourists do, as they venture through the vegetation, so you should wear comfortable and light clothing and footwear.
  • Visit the Tepozteco Pyramid: This archaeological site is open to the public Monday through Sunday from 09:00 to 17:00 hours and general admission costs 55 pesos. It is accessed through the Tepozteco, so you have to climb up to it.
  • To visit the Ex-Convent of the Nativity: It has been a World Heritage Site since 1994, and inside you can visit its museum.
  • Go to the Carlos Pellicer Museum of Pre-Hispanic Art: Open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00 hours and to enter you must give a donation of 10 pesos. Inside there are objects from different cultures, donated by the poet and anthropologist to whom it honors its name.
  • Tour the handicrafts market: Here handicrafts of all kinds are sold.
  • Shopping in the market.
  • Try the local food: Green rice with fried plantains, chiles tolucos, chapulines, escamoles with eggs, ant larvae, dishes with snails, among others.
  • Enter the Santuario de los Venaditos: It is an ecological reserve surrounded by mountains, where deer live. The cost to access is 10 pesos.

Las Estacas, natural park

Distance and estimated time: 129 kilometers and 2:00 hours from Puebla's zocalo.

Las Estacas is an ecotourism destination, it is a park with 26 hectares of extension where you can perform various activities in its river, the main ones are swimming and diving, although you can also:

  • Snorkeling
  • Ziplining
  • Rent a kayak, a paddle, or a raft
  • Access the spa
  • Enjoy a campfire
  • Diving into the river on a rope
  • Swimming
  • For children, there is a children's lake

According to its website, the cost of access for up to 24 hours is 435 pesos per adult and 275 pesos per child under 1.25 meters, while those under 90 centimeters get in for free.
It is located at Carretera Tlaltizapan-Cuautla, Bonifacio García 6-S/N KM, 62770 Tlaltizapán, Morelos.

El Rollo, Water Park

Distance and estimated time: 138 kilometers and 1:54 hours from Puebla's downtown.

This water park stands out for its attractions, such as the slides of more than 25 meters high, as well as 20 pools, a wave river, among others for the whole family. For example:

  • The Abyss: It is a 25 meter long slide, in which people fall in five seconds into the pool.
  • Aqualoop: This is a 360 degree ride, at a height of 25 meters.
  • Mamut: On a raft for four people, you ride on a slide with long curves for 70 meters at a height of 15 meters.
  • Aquatubo: It is a ride on a closed slide, on a tire, and it is done in five seconds.
  • Isla Infantil: It is a fun place for children, with aquatic attractions.

It is located in Tlaquiltenango, Morelos, and is open Monday through Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. And the cost for adults is 330 pesos, for children is 190 pesos, and for seniors with INAPAM card is 200 pesos, according to its website.

Hurricane Harbor Oaxtepec

Distance and estimated time: 116 kilometers and 1:46 hours from Puebla's zocalo.

It is a Six Flags Tropical Oasis, with multiple water attractions for visitors, such as:

  • Adventure River: A lazy river
  • Anaconda: An enclosed slide, with spiral turns that give the sensation of going forward and backward at the same time.
  • Aqua Racers: A six-lane attraction, where people fall propelled by water at an incline of 35° degrees.
  • Big Surf: It is one of the newest, where you can surf at extreme speed.
  • Tornado: In a raft of two to four people get on for a ride in the middle of a water tornado.

The day ticket is 239 pesos, although you can get an annual pass for 599 pesos. It is located on the Mexico-Cuautla Highway Km. 27 + 200, Centro, 62738 Oaxtepec, Morelos, next to the Centro Vacacional IMSS.


Distance and estimated time: 149 kilometers and 1:58 hours from Puebla's zocalo.

Popularly known as "Teques", it is a town located in the municipality of Jojutla, which is precisely located on the shores of Lake Tequesquitengo, the main tourist attraction in the area.

In that lake, with 130 meters deep formed by the collapse of the roof of large caverns, you can do diving, wakeboarding, wakesurfing, rafting, among other extreme activities.

Or on the shores you can fly in hot air balloons in the mornings, or even fly in ultralight airplanes and do parachuting.

Nearby you'll find Jardines de México, which is a park divided into seven themed gardens with a variety of plants, flowers, sculptures, fountains and even a labyrinth. In addition, there are restaurants and cafes.
